Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation and patient care for patients traveling to treatment sites within the community and other VA Medical Centers.
• Operate light duty vehicles (Sedans, mini vans, 8 passenger vans, pickup trucks, light duty construction utility vehicles) to transport patients under nonemergency conditions.
• Drive on public roads at controlled speeds to ensure patient comfort and safety.
• Drive shuttle vans on special runs for meetings and activities.
• Adhere to all State, local, and installation traffic laws and ordinances.
• Maneuver vehicles in constricted areas including narrow streets and parking lots.
• May need to know basic first aid and CPR to assist medical technicians.
• Complete documentation related to transport (trip tickets, fuel consumption) and routine logs.
