Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Motor Vehicle Operator to transport patients and supplies, including on emergency runs, between VA facilities and private sites. The role requires CDL with passenger endorsement, BLS, and ability to handle patients safely.

Schedule is typically Monday–Friday daytime with potential overtime for emergencies. Driver must meet physical demands, follow safety guidelines, and maintain logs and MDC usage.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Driver's License to operate a motor vehicle.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience with patient transport and loading/unloading.
• Ability to work in varied weather and traffic conditions.

Responsibilities

• Receive work assignments from Transportation Coordinator or Mobility Manager.
• Arrive at pickup and discharge points on schedule.
• Read maps and assess road conditions to determine safe routes.
• Enforce passenger safety and seatbelt use.
• Operate MDC during trips and duties.
• Load/unload patients and medical supplies.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and cleanliness.
