Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Motor Vehicle Operator to transport patients and dependents between VA Medical Center facilities, private healthcare facilities, and other related locations.

You will drive scheduled routes and emergency transports, ensuring safety and on-time performance for patient care activities. This role requires a valid CDL with passenger endorsement, the ability to assist with patient handling, and adherence to all traffic and safety regulations while

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Class B driver’s license with Passenger endorsement.
• Ability to assist with loading/unloading patients and supplies.
• Demonstrated safe driving record and ability to follow route instructions.

Responsibilities

• Receive work assignments from Transportation Coordinator or Mobility Manager.
• Arrive at pickup/discharge points on schedule and maintain timely operations.
• Read maps and assess traffic conditions to choose safe routes.
• Enforce passenger safety and seatbelt use.
• Operate MDCs for trips and duties during shifts.
• Load/unload patients and medical supplies with care.
• Perform routine vehicle checks and basic maintenance tasks.
• Maintain records of inspections and incidents.
• Communicate with dispatcher via radio or devices.
