Job summary

The New Mexico VA Health Care System is seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon to join our Surgical Service team. You will provide comprehensive orthopedic evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and surgical care for Veterans with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting resident education through our academic affiliates.

Qualifications

• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine.
• License: one full and unrestricted license from any US state or territory.
• Board certification required for CME eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive orthopedic evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and surgical care for Veterans with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support resident education through academic affiliates.
• Independently exercise professional judgment in diagnosing complex orthopedic conditions and planning treatment.
• Refer patients to other providers when indicated and consult with physicians to augment care.
• Utilize hospital privileges to order tests, write prescriptions, hospitalize patients when needed, and discharge appropriately.
