Job summary

Department of Veterans Affairs in Fresno, CA, invites an Orthopedic Surgeon to provide comprehensive musculoskeletal care across outpatient, inpatient, and operative settings within the Surgery Department.

The position offers a competitive salary ($325,000-$365,000 per year), generous retirement options (FERS, TSP, Social Security), loan repayment through EDRP, paid leave, tail malpractice coverage, and CME reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in outpatient clinic, inpatient setting, operating room, Emergency Department, and other locations as needed
• Evaluate and treat musculoskeletal diseases and injuries, performing surgical and medical interventions
• Conduct initial histories and physical exams, order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies
• Participate in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive care
• Supervise and mentor residents, students, and physician extenders
• Participate in fair, equitable on-call rotation, including daytime, after-hours, weekends, and holidays
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
• Maintain a safe workplace and engage in department quality improvement initiatives
• Perform other duties as assigned by Chief of Surgery or facility leadership
