Job summary

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks a Veterans Lounge Student Worker for the Hildebrand Veterans Lounge at Dorsey Academic Center in Elkridge, MD. The role supports in-person and virtual activities for DC/MD/VA veterans, part-time up to 19 hours per week.

Responsibilities include greeting visitors, hosting Zoom sessions, and advising on benefits and campus programs. Eligible UMGC students preferred; salary is $15.00/hr.

Qualifications

• Eligible UMGC students must be enrolled and pursuing education.
• Preference given to applicants eligible as training ¾ time or greater.
• Must be a veteran, US servicemember spouse, or using Veterans Benefits.

Responsibilities

• Serve as receptionist for Hildebrand Student Veterans Lounge at Dorsey Station.
• Virtually host Student Lounge and Zoom Workshop Wednesdays.
• Participate in Veterans Initiatives Office events.
• Advise students on programs and resources.
• Assist with general inquiries on veterans benefits.
• Process SALUTE Honor Society applications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Veterans Lounge Student Worker Veterans Initiatives Office at UMGC Part Time / 19 hours per week max Job Location: Dorsey Academic Center in Elkridge, MD

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is seeking a Veterans Lounge Student Worker. The Veterans Initiatives Office is seeking to hire a Student Worker to support in-person and virtually, the Hildebrand Veterans Lounge at the Dorsey Academic Center in Elkridge, MD and veterans in the DC/MD/VA area.

The position is part-time, not to exceed 19 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a receptionist for the Hildebrand Student Veterans Lounge located at the Dorsey Station regional location.
• Virtually host Virtual Student Lounge in addition to Workshop Wednesday series via Zoom
• Participate in events hosted by Veterans Initiatives Office
• Advise students of the available programs and resources
• Provide assistance with general inquiries regarding veterans benefits
• Process SALUTE Honor Society applications
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Preferred Requirements

• Eligible students must be currently pursuing education at UMGC and qualify as training ¾ time or greater
• Must have served in the United States Military and/or are using Veterans Benefits OR be the spouse of an active duty or veteran servicemember
• Serve on the Board of the UMGC Chapter of Student Veterans of America

Benefits Package Overview

Student Workers that regularly work over 12 hrs per week are eligible for limited sick and safe leave at the rate of 1 hr for every 30 hrs worked, up to a maximum accrual of 40 hrs in a calendar year. No other benefits are offered to student workers.
