Job summary

The State of Missouri seeks a veteran-focused outreach specialist for the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development to coordinate employment, training and apprenticeship services for veterans.

You will travel up to 80% within service counties, build partnerships with employers and labor unions, and provide case management and vocational guidance to veterans facing employment barriers.

Qualifications

• Beneficial education and/or work-related experience includes public administration, workforce development, or military service.
• This position must be filled by a veteran who was discharged under other than dishonorable conditions.

Responsibilities

• Proactively coordinate with employers and partners to provide employment, training, and placement services for veterans.
• Provide case management and vocational guidance to veterans with barriers to employment.
• Conduct outreach to veterans and community organizations, and coordinate with state/federal programs to maximize employment opportunities.
• Maintain regular contact with regional employers and community leaders to keep them informed of eligible veterans.
• Provide workshops and training to employers and Job Center staff.
• Spend time visiting service counties to deliver outreach and services.
