Job summary

State of Missouri’s Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development seeks a dedicated professional to provide case management and intensive services to veterans and eligible spouses facing barriers to employment. You will conduct regional outreach, coordinate with federal and state agencies, and develop programs in partnership with education and employers to maximize opportunities for veterans.

On-site work with regular travel within Missouri, including a one-time out-of-state training

Qualifications

  • Beneficial education and/or work-related experience includes technical or professional experience in business, personnel or public administration or closely related area, including military service.
  • This position must be filled by a veteran who was discharged under other than dishonorable conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management and intensive services to veterans and eligible spouses who have significant barriers to employment and to TSMs.
  • Conduct regional outreach activities to locate veterans through contacts with local veterans’ organizations and state agencies.
  • Consult and coordinate with federal, state, and local programs to promote employment opportunities for veterans.
  • Develop outreach programs with Department of Veterans Affairs personnel, educational institutions, and employers to maximize assistance to disabled veterans.
  • Provide vocational guidance or counseling services to veterans, eligible spouses, and TSMs regarding vocations.
  • Work with partners to maximize opportunities for veterans and ensure priority access to Department of Labor programs.
  • Document all services and activities in the MoJobs system as required by guidelines.
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.

Travel Requirements
  • Employee is required to travel and attend a one-time, week-long, out-of-state veteran-specific training within the first 12 months of employment. The Department will arrange and cover applicable travel and lodging expenses.
  • On a weekly basis, up to 50% of work time, the employee shall travel within the assigned service counties to conduct outreach to labor unions, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and veterans’ organizations. This will generally consist of day travel with occasional overnight travel. Must have a valid Missouri driver’s license.

Responsibilities
  • Provide case management and intensive services to veterans and eligible spouses who have significant barriers to employment and to TSMs interested in and participating in the Career Skills Program.
  • Conduct regional outreach activities to locate veterans through contacts with local veterans’ organizations, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other state agencies such as Missouri Veteran's Commission, Vocational Rehabilitation, and other institutions that serve veterans. (On-site visits required throughout the area of responsibility)
  • Consult and coordinate with other appropriate representatives of federal, state, and local programs to develop maximum linkages to promote employment opportunities and assistance for veterans with significant barriers to employment. Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with federal CSP coordinators.
  • Develop outreach programs in cooperation with Department of Veterans Affairs personnel, educational institutions, and employers to maximize assistance to disabled veterans who have completed or are participating in a vocational rehabilitation program. (On-site visits required throughout the area of responsibility)
  • Provide vocational guidance or vocational counseling services, or both, to veterans, eligible spouses, and TSMs with respect to selection of and changes in vocations and vocational adjustment.
  • Ensure veterans, eligible spouses, and TSMs are aware of other programs for veterans, such as those available through Missouri's Department of Education.
  • Work with partners to maximize opportunities for veterans and ensure veterans are given priority access to Department of Labor programs.
  • Work closely with other staff as part of a case management team.
  • Provide veteran-related resources to Job Center staff.
  • Document all services and activities in the electronic case management system (MoJobs) as required by program guidelines.
  • Complete apprenticeship program
  • Perform other related work as assigned.
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
