Job summary

The Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPMHC) serves in the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) within the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System. You coordinate and provide specialty mental health counseling to Veterans, conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based therapies.

This federal role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, potential program oversight, and ad-hoc telework.

Qualifications

• Assessment interviews and intake evaluations for Veterans
• Develop treatment plans and provide psychotherapy
• Coordinate referrals within BHIP and with other services
• Consult with team members and mentor staff and students
• Education in CACREP-accredited programs required for qualification

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans for Veterans
• Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy
• Collaborate with BHIP multidisciplinary team
• Refer clients to appropriate programs and providers as needed
• Possibly manage or oversee clinical program aspects within VATVCBHCS
