Black Hawk County seeks an Executive Director for the Veterans Affairs Department to lead operations, programs, and services in accordance with Iowa law. This role directs staff, manages the budget, develops policies, and guides veteran assistance programs.

The candidate will engage with the Veterans Affairs Commission, Board of Supervisors, and community partners to maximize resources, promote public awareness, and ensure compliant benefits delivery.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum of three years' management-level service delivery experience.
• Must obtain NACVSO accreditation within one year of hire.
• Must have a valid Iowa Driver's License.

Responsabilidades

• Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the operations, programs, and services of the Veterans Affairs Department.
• Oversees budget management and development of departmental policies and procedures.
• Counsels, advises, and assists veterans and families regarding local, state, and federal benefits.
• Promotes public awareness of programs through outreach and collaboration with community partners.
• Keeps abreast of laws, regulations, and trends affecting veterans and reports to the Veterans Affairs Commission.
