Job summary

Sitter-Barfoot Veterans Care Center in Virginia seeks an Activities Assistant for afternoons and evenings. This position requires every other weekend and supports resident activities under supervision of the Activities Director and Coordinator.

You will help implement approved therapeutic recreation programs for veterans, including those with Alzheimer/dementia, and collaborate with other departments to coordinate events and activities.

Qualifications

• Experience providing activities programming in long term care or adult geriatric settings.
• Must have physical ability to turn, bend and lift without restrictions.
• Ability to read, write and communicate ideas.

Responsibilities

• Assist Activities Director in providing approved therapeutic recreation programs for residents.
• Coordinate activities with other departments.
• Assess and document residents' abilities and participation in activities.
