The Veteran Support Specialist serves as a point of contactfor veterans by providing education, administrative support, and compassionatecommunication throughout the benefits process. This position coordinatesveteran support activities, prepares veterans for appointments, andcollaborates with internal teams to ensure veterans are informed, prepared, andsupported while promoting timely, organized, and high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate veteran support activities throughoutthe benefits process by serving as a consistent point of contact and ensuringveterans receive timely communication, administrative support, and exceptionalcustomer service.
  • Prepare veterans for upcoming appointments byproviding education, reviewing appointment expectations, and utilizingcompany-approved training materials, and educational resources.
  • Encourage veterans to clearly communicate theirpersonal experiences, symptoms, functional limitations, and concerns in theirown words while maintaining established role boundaries.
  • Monitor veteran engagement by identifyingoutstanding requirements, coordinating follow-up activities, and ensuringtimely progression throughout the benefits process.
Documentation & AdministrativeSupport
  • Maintaincomplete, accurate, and timely case documentation by recording veteraninteractions, updating the organization's case management system, andfollowing established documentation standards.
  • Organizeand review veteran records to verify file completeness, identify missinginformation or documentation discrepancies, and ensure administrativereadiness.
  • Preparecase summaries, administrative notes, and supporting documentation tofacilitate effective communication, informed decision-making, andcontinuity among internal team members.
  • Trackappointment schedules, outstanding documentation requests, and follow-upactivities to ensure timely service delivery and efficient caseprogression.
  • Collaboratewith case managers, leadership, and cross-functional teams to coordinateveteran support activities, communicate updates, and maintain effectiveworkflow coordination.
  • Ensureveteran interactions, documentation, and administrative activities complywith company policies, privacy requirements, confidentiality standards,and established organizational procedures.
  • Participatein required training, consistently apply quality standards, and supportcontinuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectivenessand the overall veteran experience.
  • Participatein company-sponsored events, volunteer initiatives, and community outreachactivities that advance the mission of Veterans for Veterans andstrengthen relationships with veterans, partners, and the communities weserve.
Requirements
  • Excellent verbal, written, andinterpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport andcommunicate professionally with veterans, colleagues, and externalstakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills,attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities whilemaintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercisesound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information withprofessionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft OfficeSuite, CRM systems, email, and other cloud-based technologies; ability toquickly learn new software and internal systems.
