Job description

Location: This is a field-based role centered in Charlotte, North Carolina, with regular local travel throughout the greater Charlotte area and occasional travel to nearby communities in North Carolina and South Carolina. This is not a fully remote position.

Carolina Home Access helps veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, and families create safer, more accessible homes. Our services include wheelchair ramps, stair lifts, grab bars, handrails, bathroom safety improvements, lighting modifications, and other practical solutions that support independence at home. We are seeking a professional who understands how to navigate the VA system and can help connect veterans with the home modifications and benefits available to them.

The Veteran Services Specialist will help Carolina Home Access establish productive relationships within the Department of Veterans Affairs and related veteran-service networks. The ideal candidate may be a former VA Medical Facility Prosthetic Representative, Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service professional, VA social worker, benefits professional, purchasing specialist, case manager, discharge planner, or healthcare professional with strong relationships in this area. You do not need to have held the title of Prosthetic Representative. However, you must have experience working with VA programs, veteran-service organizations, healthcare referral networks, or public-sector vendor processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop professional relationships with veteran-service organizations, healthcare providers, rehabilitation professionals, discharge-planning teams, accessibility professionals, and other appropriate referral partners.
  • Introduce Carolina Home Access and provide accurate information about its home-accessibility services.
  • Help the company understand relevant vendor-registration procedures, terminology, documentation standards, and administrative requirements.
  • Support accurate, timely, and ethical completion of company paperwork.
  • Develop compliant outreach and community-education processes.
  • Provide general information about available home-accessibility solutions.
  • Direct veterans and families to authorized VA personnel or accredited resources for benefits and eligibility questions.
  • Identify appropriate opportunities involving ramps, stair lifts, grab bars, handrails, bathroom-safety solutions, and related accessibility modifications.
  • Maintain accurate business-development records while protecting confidential, personal, health, and government information.
  • Represent Carolina Home Access professionally and comply with applicable privacy, procurement, ethics, anti-kickback, and conflict-of-interest requirements.
  • Avoid offering, requesting, or accepting anything of value in exchange for referrals, benefit approvals, purchasing decisions, or preferential treatment.
Qualifications
  • At least five years of relevant experience in veteran services, healthcare benefits, rehabilitation, disability services, durable medical equipment, home accessibility, social work, public-sector vendor processes, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of veteran-service systems, healthcare referral networks, public-sector documentation, or vendor procedures.
  • Experience working with veteran-service organizations, healthcare professionals, rehabilitation teams, or government programs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with home-accessibility equipment, durable medical equipment, aging-in-place services, or disability-related modifications is preferred.
  • Strong professional communication, relationship-development, organization, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to explain complex administrative processes clearly and accurately.
  • Commitment to ethical outreach and service without aggressive sales practices.
  • Ability to travel locally throughout the greater Charlotte area.

Former government employees must comply with all applicable post-employment ethics, conflict-of-interest, procurement-integrity, and representation restrictions. The role does not involve using confidential or nonpublic government information

Compensation
  • Part-time or full-time W-2 employment.
  • Pay: $35-$50 per hour, depending on VA experience, existing relationships, and employment structure.
  • Eligible employees may receive a discretionary performance bonus based on documented outreach activity, compliant partnership development, administrative quality, and overall company performance. Compensation will not be based on individual patient referrals, benefit approvals, or government purchasing decisions
  • Opportunity to help establish and lead the company's veteran-services channel.
  • Direct access to the company owner and significant input into processes, partnerships, and growth strategy.
Why Carolina Home Access?
