Job summary

Owens Community College seeks a Manager, Veteran Services to facilitate matriculation of student veterans, spouses and dependents, and to coordinate their education benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The role includes counseling students, developing educational plans, and maintaining the Veterans Services Center operations while serving as a liaison to faculty, staff, and community partners. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Adult Education, Liberal Arts, Counseling, Social Work or related field OR an associates degree with two years of Veterans Services experience.
• Two years experience as an advisor, mentor, counselor or supervisor.
• Experience with oral and written communication.
• Intermediate computer skills and ability to use email, phone systems, and online research.
• Demonstrated military service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate matriculation of all veteran students and serve as School Certifying Official.
• Coordinate veterans education benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Counsel veterans and help develop educational plans related to education benefits.
• Maintain liaison with OCC faculty, staff, outside entities and community partners.
• Provide office coverage and travel for recruitment and events as needed.
• Support GI Bill certifications and VA work-study supervision.
