Job summary

Connecticut State Community College Norwalk campus seeks a part-time Veteran Services Associate to act as a school certifying official, processing enrollment changes, and verifying pursuit training. On-site at CT State Norwalk (188 Richards Ave).

Anticipated start August 2026. Under the Dean of Students, you will provide academic advising and retention strategies for veterans, coordinate with departments, and support veteran students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriately related field with one (1) or more years of experience in student services, advisement, or other higher education related field, or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position's essential duties.
• Experience with Veteran Services
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Responsibilities

• Guide veteran students to resources concerning college admission, educational benefits for veterans and dependents, and applying for benefits online
• Review and evaluate transcripts, verify credit transfer, and provide curriculum checks for degree track and graduation requirements
• Coordinate with college departments for testing, academic advising, campus life and student support services
• Coach College staff on veteran educational policy and distribute timely updates
• Represent CT State Norwalk at community veteran and military functions/events as appropriate
• Maintain institutional and veteran data for reporting to administration, partners and agencies
