Job summary

CT State Norwalk is seeking an Educational Assistant to support veteran students, advise on enrollment, and manage benefits processing. This on-site, part-time role collaborates with multiple campus departments to ensure student success and retention.

Strong communication and familiarity with veteran programs are essential. The position offers a part-time schedule (up to 17 hours/week) with a starting date in August 2026 and a competitive hourly rate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriately related field with one or more years of experience in student services, advisement, or other higher education related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

  • Guide veteran students to resources concerning admissions, benefits, and applying for benefits online.
  • Review and evaluate military transcripts, verify credit transfer, and provide curriculum checks for degree tracks.
  • Coordinate with college departments for testing, advising, campus life and student support services.
  • Coach staff on veteran policies and procedures and distribute timely updates.
  • Represent CT State Norwalk at community veteran and military functions/events.
  • Maintain institutional and veteran data for reporting to administration and partners.
  • Liaise between CT State Norwalk and Veteran community partners.
