Job summary

Liberty Dogs in Reno, NV seeks a Placement and Adoptions Manager to oversee all adoption and placement programs for shelter and service-dog initiatives. You will develop behavior and training plans, manage the application and counseling process, and provide post-adoption support to ensure successful community matches.

Work closely with Veteran Services, Outreach, and Marketing; lead teams, maintain partnerships, and handle hands-on dog training across various placements.

Qualifications

  • Extensive nonprofit program development and management experience.
  • Experience leading teams of 3–7 people.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Salesforce, DaySmart and scheduling software.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage adoption and career-change placements (skilled companions, facility dogs, therapy dogs, hearing dogs, comfort dogs, community adoptions).
  • Screening, matching, and counseling using open adoption practices.
  • Develop and implement training and behavior modification plans for dogs awaiting placement and after placement.
  • Provide 1:1 on-site training and in-home visits for resident pet introductions and maintenance training.
  • Coordinate with Veteran Services, Medical, Marketing, Outreach and volunteers.
  • Manage adoption volunteer opportunities and relationships with transfer partners.
  • Oversee department inventory, supplies, and safety policies.
  • 40–60 hours per week with evenings, weekends, and up to 10% travel.
