Job summary

Mental Health America of Los Angeles (MHALA) is seeking a Housing Navigator to help identify permanent housing for veterans and manage landlord relationships in support of the HUD-VASH and SSVF programs. The role emphasizes community collaboration, trauma-informed care, and adherence to program guidelines.

A high school diploma or GED with relevant experience is required, with veteran status preferred and a valid driver’s license encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with relevant experience in rehabilitation or housing services.
• Ability to work in a team and coordinate with multiple agencies.
• Veteran status preferred.
• Familiar with housing subsidy programs and applications.
• Ability to drive and have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Interface with HUD-VASH, SSVF, and other agencies to obtain housing suitable to veterans and families.
• Develop relationships with landlords and property managers to facilitate housing placements.
• Coordinate with case managers to identify appropriate housing options based on participant needs.
• Maintain program documentation and ensure HMIS and funding requirements are met.
• Provide trauma-informed, strengths-based, housing-first support to participants.
