Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. seeks a Veterinary Technician for our Vetco Total Care full-service hospital. You will support veterinarians, provide compassionate client and patient care, and help maintain a smooth clinical operation.

Responsibilities include obtaining patient histories, preparing for procedures, monitoring anesthesia, performing in-hospital treatments, and mentoring new staff. This role requires a credentialed technician with strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• College education or equivalent required to become Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
• At least 1 year of experience as Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and sympathetic with professional demeanor under stress.
• Telephone and computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam room, and record initial history in the EMR.
• Assist veterinarian with routine and emergency care, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Perform patient restraint, collect lab samples, dispense meds as directed, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay results, and manage records and accounts.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and discharge planning.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and supportive care; monitor and manage patient condition.
• Train new staff and maintain a clean, functional hospital environment.
