Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. seeks a Veterinary Technician for our Vetco Total Care full‑service hospital. You will provide excellent patient care, support veterinarians, and assist with exams, surgeries, and procedures in a fast-paced animal‑care setting.

You will record patient data, educate owners, and help maintain a clean, efficient hospital environment. Previous tech experience and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• College or college-equivalent education as required in becoming a Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and sympathetic with professional attitude in stressful situations.
• Telephone and computer skills are required.
• Team player willing to learn new techniques and adapt to change.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, obtain vitals, and document history in EMR.
• Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Restrain patients, process lab samples, and dispense medications as directed.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay results, and maintain records.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and discharge care.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and maintain patient comfort and safety.
• Participate in training new staff and keep hospital clean and organized.
• Provide backup front desk support as needed.
