Job summary

North Airline Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate, skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team in Bossier City, Louisiana. You will work as the veterinarian’s primary medical support, assisting with examinations, diagnostics, treatment, and client education.

We offer growth in a supportive, collaborative environment with competitive pay in the 14.00–18.00 USD/hour range and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-2 years of veterinary technician experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital.
• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program or equivalent experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of nursing, anesthesia, laboratory procedures, and animal handling.
• Experience collecting blood samples and performing laboratory diagnostics.
• Excellent communication and client education skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer proficiency and experience with veterinary software.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the veterinarian's primary medical support throughout patient examinations, diagnostics, treatment, and follow-up care.
• Obtain complete and accurate patient histories and record vital signs.
• Prepare examination rooms and assist veterinarians during appointments.
• Safely and confidently restrain dogs and cats for examinations and procedures.
• Collect laboratory samples including blood, urine, fecal, and cytology specimens.
• Perform venipuncture and catheter placement.
• Run in-house diagnostic testing including bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal testing, and other laboratory procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia under veterinarian supervision.
• Assist with dental procedures and digital radiography.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Maintain accurate medical records using veterinary practice management software.
• Educate clients on preventive care, medications, nutrition, treatment plans, and post-operative instructions.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment area while following hospital safety and sanitation protocols.
• Support teammates in creating an efficient, positive, and collaborative work environment.
