Job summary

North Airline Animal Hospital in Bossier City, Louisiana is seeking a compassionate, skilled Veterinary Technician to join our healthcare team. This Full-Time role offers the opportunity to be the veterinarian's primary medical support and to contribute to high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of veterinary technician experience, AVMA-accredited education, and strong knowledge of nursing, anesthesia, and lab diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-2 years of veterinary technician experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital.
• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program or equivalent experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing, patient care, anesthesia, laboratory procedures, and animal handling.
• Experience collecting blood samples and performing laboratory diagnostics.
• Excellent communication and client education skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the veterinarian's primary medical support throughout patient examinations, diagnostics, treatment, and follow-up care.
• Obtain complete and accurate patient histories and record vital signs.
• Prepare examination rooms and assist veterinarians during appointments.
• Safely restrain dogs and cats for examinations and procedures.
• Collect laboratory samples including blood, urine, fecal, and cytology specimens.
• Perform venipuncture and catheter placement.
• Run in-house diagnostic testing including bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal testing, and other laboratory procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia under veterinarian supervision.
• Assist with dental procedures and digital radiography.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Maintain accurate medical records using veterinary practice management software.
• Educate clients on preventive care, medications, nutrition, treatment plans, and post-operative instructions.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment area while following hospital safety and sanitation protocols.
• Support teammates in creating an efficient, positive, and collaborative work environment.

What You'll Do
