Job summary

Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital invites DVM students to participate in its externship/preceptorship program in Seminole, FL. The experience provides exposure to a full range of small-animal cases under veterinary supervision and aims to develop clinical readiness for graduation.

Externships run 2–8 weeks and include a stipend of $250 per week, with scheduling that may include evenings and weekends to align with your college curriculum.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in an accredited DVM program.
• You are authorized to work in the United States.
• Carry AVMA PLIT liability insurance and submit a certificate of coverage with your application.

Responsibilities

• Externs experience the typical caseload of a small animal practice.
• Under mentor supervision you will gather histories and perform exams.
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
• Scrub in to surgery and assist in medical management.
• Provide wellness care and client communication.
• Produce medical records (SOAPs) within daily time limits.
