Job summary

Orlando Vets - Corrine Drive Animal Hospital is offering a DVM student externship to gain hands-on experience in a busy small animal practice in Orlando. Externs work under a mentor to participate in history taking, exams, diagnostics, treatment planning, and client communication.

Rotations are flexible (2–8 weeks, typically 2–3 weeks) with days, evenings, and weekends. A weekly stipend of $250 is provided to support the externship experience.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in an accredited DVM program.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must carry AVMA PLIT liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Gather histories and perform physical examinations under supervision.
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans and scrub in to surgery.
• Assist in medical case management and provide wellness care.
• Document patient records (SOAPs) within daily practice time limits.
• Work alongside our veterinary team and participate in all aspects of patient care.
