CityVet externships provide a structured yet flexible clinical experience in small animal general practice settings, with exposure to urgent care in many locations. Externs work alongside experienced veterinary teams, gaining hands-on exposure and mentorship to support autonomy and collaborative practice models.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year student in an AVMA-accredited DVM program.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Carry professional liability insurance; AVMA PLIT coverage is free for student members and a certificate of coverage should be submitted with the application.

• Small animal general practice medicine and surgery.
• Client communication and case management.
