Job summary

Star Valley Veterinary Clinic in Boca Raton offers an externship experience at an NVA hospital, allowing students to understand day-to-day practice and gain hands-on clinical experience. Students work with supervising DVMs to gather histories, examine patients, plan treatments, diagnose, perform dentistry, observe or assist in surgery, and manage medical cases.

Externships typically range from two to eight weeks; all DVM students are encouraged to participate.

Qualifications

• DVM students in clinical portions are welcome to apply.
• Strong interest in clinical medicine and animal care.
• Participation supports skill development under DVM supervision.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories and perform physical exams.
• Create treatment plans and perform diagnostics.
• Provide dentistry services and observe/assist or perform surgical procedures.
• Assist with medical management and patient care.
• Communicate with the medical team, staff and clients.
