is seeking part-time Student Laboratory Assistants to join the Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at OSU. The roles are up to 24 hours per week, with responsibilities including specimen handling, lab support, and routine cleaning in a university lab setting. Ideal candidates are enrolled students in high school, college, or university, with the ability to follow safety procedures and document shipment information.

Qualifications

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university.
• Must meet academic standing requirements.
• Must meet applicable minimal enrollment standard.

Responsibilities

• Triage, sort, label and stabilize specimens, record information for chain of custody.
• Deliver specimens to and from laboratories within VRL and Magruder Hall.
• Washing, packaging and sterilizing glassware and implements using autoclave or steam sterilizer.
• General cleaning; sweeping, mopping, dusting, etc.
• Empty regular trash and recycling from multiple rooms throughout the laboratory.
• Assist full-time laboratory staff with pre-testing set up as needed.
• Other support tasks as assigned.
