Job summary

Virginia Tech's Central Sterile Supply (CSS) team supports safe, high‑quality veterinary surgical care for large and small animals. This role suits detail‑oriented professionals who work behind the scenes to enable life‑saving procedures.

You will assist in the OR, prepare patients, manage instruments, and uphold strict sterile technique. Collaboration with specialists and on‑call shifts are required; CRCST certification must be obtained within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills.
• Rabies prophylaxis provided by employer.
• Must obtain CRCST certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support surgical services across operating room assistance, patient preparation, and instrumentation management.
• Clean, sterilize, assemble, and maintain surgical instruments to be procedure-ready.
• Prepare surgical suites and provide intraoperative support to veterinary surgeons and clinical teams.
• Perform patient preparation including clipping and aseptic site prep with strict sterile protocols.
• Collaborate with neurology, orthopedics, and oncology to ensure seamless workflow.
• Coordinate daily surgical operations ensuring OR readiness and proper case flow.
• Maintain accurate tracking of instruments and supplies.
