Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is looking for a Veterinary Assistant in Dallas, Texas, to provide top-notch medical care and exceptional customer service to pets and their owners. Candidates should have at least a year of experience in veterinary practice or related animal care.

The position involves responsibilities such as obtaining vital signs, assisting in surgeries, and maintaining the electronic medical record. Ideal candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor while working in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate and sympathetic, and able to maintain professionalism.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, obtain weight and vital signs, record in EMR.
• Assist doctors with routine and emergency appointments, surgeries, and euthanasia.
• Perform patient restraint, obtain and process lab samples, dispense medications.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, update patient records.
• Help maintain surgery preparation and assist in anesthetizing patients.
