Job summary

The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a 3-year residency in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology. The program provides broad exposure to basic and applied pathology and prepares residents for ACVP board examination.

Responsibilities include diagnostic service, teaching veterinary students, and board preparation with professional development. On-site work is expected; a small remote component may be available.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a DVM degree or an equivalent degree by the start date (July 1, 2027) and must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Candidates from non-English speaking programs should provide GRE and TOEFL scores.

Responsibilities

  • 45% Diagnostic Service: participate in diagnostic activities of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, including necropsy examinations, tissue collection, histopathologic evaluation, interpretation of findings, and preparation of diagnostic reports.
  • 40% Teaching: assist with instruction in veterinary student pathology laboratories and supervise necropsy rotations.
  • 10% Board Preparation/Development: study for ACVP board examination, attend seminars and journal clubs, complete readings and case reviews.
  • 5% Miscellaneous Duties: participate in QA/QI activities, maintain standards and documentation, and support departmental meetings and residency activities.
