Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Vessel Operator responsible for inspecting equipment, directing crew, and ensuring safe operation prior to voyages across coastal and inland waters. You will use navigation tools, weather forecasts, and logs to maintain safety and regulatory compliance, and adjust plans with supervision as conditions change.

The role requires hands-on vessel operation, strong safety discipline, and the ability to train and direct deckhands.

Qualifications

• 1+ year maritime experience.
• Valid driver’s license with MVR meeting business standards.
• Eligible for TWIC/MMC and maritime credentials.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vessel logs and inspections.
• Deploy containment boom and spill response equipment as needed.
• Direct deckhands and passengers to ensure safety during hazards.
• Conduct onboard safety drills and training in seamanship.
