Job summary

Smith Industries is seeking an experienced Vessel Fabricator to join our production team in Midland, Texas. The right candidate prioritizes safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork while adhering to ASME code standards and fabrication specifications.

You will read blueprints, lay out vessel components, operate welding equipment, and ensure positive safety practices on the shop floor. A strong background in code welding and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a 1G Welding Test.
• Proven experience welding vessels to code.
• Ability to read and build vessels from detailed print layouts.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to identify defects and non-conformance issues.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, isometric drawings, and fabrication layouts.
• Lay out, fit, and fabricate vessel components and pipe in preparation for welding and installation.
• Operate welding equipment and related fabrication tools efficiently and safely.
• Use thermal cutting equipment such as oxy-fuel torch and plasma arc equipment.
• Connect hoses and regulators for oxygen and fuel gas systems safely.
• Climb ladders and work from scaffolds when required.
• Report discrepancies and safety concerns to the shop foreman immediately.
• Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and proper use of PPE.
