Job summary

Smithindustriestx is seeking an experienced Vessel Fabricator to join our production team in Midland, TX. The role requires read and interpret blueprints, lay out and fabricate vessel components, and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.

You will work to ASME and API standards, prioritize safety, quality, and teamwork, and contribute to on-time fabrication of vessels. A 1G welding test and print-layout skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Pass a 1G welding test.
• Experience welding vessels to code.
• Able to read detailed print layouts and build vessels.
• Familiar with AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects.
• Committed to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, isometric drawings, and fabrication layouts.
• Lay out, fit, and fabricate vessel components and pipe in preparation for welding and installation.
• Operate welding equipment and related fabrication tools efficiently and safely.
• Use thermal cutting equipment such as oxy-fuel torch and plasma arc equipment.
• Connect hoses and regulators for oxygen and fuel gas systems safely.
• Climb ladders and work from scaffolds when required.
• Report discrepancies and safety concerns to the shop foreman immediately.
• Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and proper use of PPE.
