Job summary

VDA Inc. in New Jersey seeks a CAD/BIM Operator to produce precise drawings and models supporting Design Services. You will create 2D sketches and layouts and 3D models of vertical transportation equipment.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and consultants, ensuring compliance with internal standards and project requirements. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is essential, along with strong attention to detail and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field.
• 2–5 years of professional CAD drafting experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Revit and BIM Collaboration Tools.
• Strong understanding of drafting standards, layering conventions, and document coordination.
• Working knowledge of load calculations.

Responsibilities

• Create 2D drawings of vertical transportation elements (primarily elevators and escalators) using AutoCAD.
• Create 3D models of vertical transportation systems using Revit.
• Coordinate BIM models with architectural firms and other trades.
• Produce plan and section sheets from BIM models.
• Revise 2D CAD drawings and 3D BIM models from redlines and direction from consultants.
• Coordinate drawing content with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical backgrounds.
• Maintain drawing accuracy, consistency, and version control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with the preparation of design submission packages.
• Gather research data from manufacturers.
• Support standardization efforts including templates, blocks, layers, and drafting procedures.
• Organize and maintain project files per company document control practices.
• Communicate effectively with internal team members to clarify scope, deadlines, and technical input.
• Perform other drafting and design-support tasks as assigned.
