Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated is seeking a motivated Co‑op in the Technical Operations-Drug Product area for a 6-month program in Boston. You will analyze historical manufacturing data, develop visualizations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to improve processes and data utilization.

The role requires enrollment in an advanced degree (MS/PhD) with strong statistics/data analytics skills, 40 hours/week, and availability January–July 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a College/University and have at least finished one year of a Master's or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering with a strong background in statistics and data analytics.
• Strong self-initiative, communication, and interpersonal and relationship skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in manufacturing process data.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Analyze historical manufacturing/process data to identify trends.
• Perform data cleaning, visualization and statistical analysis using tools such as JMP, Excel or Power BI.
• Develop meaningful visualizations and dashboards to communicate process performance and emerging trends.
• Partner with Manufacturing Science & Technology and Quality teams to translate data into actionable process insights.
• Collaborate in a cross-functional team to develop solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve process monitoring, data utilization and manufacturing performance.

Your Impact

The Vertex Process Engineering Data Analytics Co-Op is a 6-month experiential training program for students currently working towards an advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or other related fields. If you are passionate, collaborative, and growth-minded, a co-op at Vertex will help you gain meaningful experience in our Technical Operations - Drug Product functional areas and serve as a launchpad for your career.

What you will be doing:

The Vertex Technical Operations-Drug Product team is looking for a motivated Co‑op to join our team this spring. The Co‑op will be responsible for assessing historical manufacturing/process data to identify trends and identify oppurtunities to improve the process. The Co‑op will have the opportunity to interact with multiple departments (Drug Product Operations, Quality Operations and Analytical Development), as well as work with talented people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze historical manufacturing/process data to identify trends, patterns, variability and potential process drivers-
• Perform data cleaning, visualization and statistical analysis using tools such as JMP, Excel or Power BI
• Develop meaningful visualizations and dashboards to communicate process performance and emerging trends
• Partner with Manufacturing Science & Technology and Quality teams to translate data into actionable process insights.
• Collaborate in a cross‑functional team to develop solutions
• Identify opportunities to improve process monitoring, data utilization and manufacturing performance.
• Present findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
