Job summary

Vertex is seeking a motivated co‑op for Spring 2027 to join our Technical Operations – Drug Product team. You will assess historical manufacturing data, identify trends, and interact with multiple departments while learning from industry leaders.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a College/University and have finished one year of a Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with an interest in manufacturing process data.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with JMP /Minitab is preferred.
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future.
  • Vertex does not sponsor internships/co‑ops or entry level roles within this organization.
  • Must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before May 2027.
  • Must be available to work full‑time, 40 hours per week January – July 2027.

What you will be doing:

The Vertex Technical Operations‑Drug Product team is looking for a motivated Co‑op to join our team this spring. The Co‑op will be responsible for assessing historical manufacturing/process data to identify trends and identify oppurtunities to improve the process. The Co‑op will have the opportunity to interact with multiple departments (Drug Product Operations, Quality Operations and Analytical Development), as well as work with talented people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze historical manufacturing/process data to identify trends, patterns, variability and potential process drivers- Perform data cleaning, visualization and statistical analysis using tools such as JMP, Excel or Power BI
  • Develop meaningful visualizations and dashboards to communicate process performance and emerging trends
  • Partner with Manufacturing Science & Technology and Quality teams to translate data into actionable process insights.
  • Collaborate in a cross‑functional team to develop solutions
  • Identify opportunities to improve process monitoring, data utilization and manufacturing performance.
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled in a College/University and have at least finished one year of a Master’s or phD degree in Chemical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering with a strong background in statistics and data analytics.
  • Strong self‑initiative, communication, and interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with an interest in manufacturing process data
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with JMP /Minitab is preferred.
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future.

Program Details:
