The American Museum of Natural History seeks an outstanding tenure-track Assistant Curator/Assistant Professor in Vertebrate Zoology (Ichthyology or Mammalogy) to start on or after 1 July 2027.

The successful candidate will develop a world-leading, collections-based research program focused on fishes or mammals, leveraging genomics, imaging, computational biology, biodiversity informatics, and other data-intensive approaches.

Qualifications

• Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in biology or a related field and relevant post-doctoral research experience at the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Stewardship, curation, and long-term growth of one of the world's premier vertebrate zoology collections.
• Develop an independent, funded research program in fishes or mammals and mentor graduate students and postdocs.
• Collaborate with Columbia University and City University of New York and engage in exhibitions and public outreach.
