American Museum of Natural History in New York seeks a tenure-track Assistant Curator/Assistant Professor in Ichthyology or Mammalogy to start on or after July 1, 2027. The successful candidate will develop a world-leading, collections-based program addressing evolution, biodiversity, and environmental change.

The role includes teaching in the Richard Gilder Graduate School, mentoring graduate students, field expeditions, and expanding the museum’s premier vertebrate collections.

Qualifications

• PhD in a related field and evidence of scholarly achievement
• Track record in evolution, biodiversity, and environmental change research
• Ability to mentor graduate students and postdocs and secure extramural funding

Responsabilités

• Develop a world-leading, collections-based research program in fishes or mammals
• Lead stewardship, curation, and growth of the vertebrate zoology collection
• Teach and advise PhD students and postdocs; collaborate with partner institutions
