Job summary

The American Museum of Natural History in New York invites applications for an Open-rank Curator and Professor of Biological Anthropology, to begin on or after July 1, 2027. The appointee will hold a tenure-track or tenured position at the level of Assistant to Professor depending on experience.

The successful candidate will lead innovative research on human origins, collaborate across the museum, contribute to exhibitions, and mentor students in the doctoral program.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Anthropology or related field is required.
• Strong record of scholarly achievement and potential for leadership in the field.

Responsibilities

• Engage in an innovative, externally funded research program focused on human evolution and primate biology.
• Provide curatorial leadership and contribute to exhibitions, education, and public programming.
• Mentor graduate students and postdocs; contribute to the Museum's doctoral program in Comparative Biology; collaborate across divisions.
