Port St. John Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in veterinary assistant or related role preferred.
• Safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes.
• Basic veterinary terminology and patient care knowledge.
• Experience assisting with exams, treatments, surgery setup, radiology, and outpatient procedures.
• Phlebotomy, SQ injections, lab sample collection, and inpatient nursing care.
• Collect patient histories, weights, vital signs, and maintain medical records.
• Attention to detail, organization, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Compassionate client and team communication with a dependable work ethic.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, and restrain patients as needed.
• Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service.

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows.
• Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry.
• Provide safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care.
• Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.
• Build positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service.
• Maintain clean, organized exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces.
