Job summary

Port St. John Veterinary Hospital, part of Western Veterinary Partners, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team and support exceptional experiences for clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

This role offers a versatile, full- or part-time schedule with a 4/10 workweek, Monday–Friday and rotating Saturdays, plus a competitive benefits package and opportunities to grow within a growing network of practices.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of veterinary assistant or related role preferred.
• Proficiency in animal handling and restraint.
• Experience assisting with exams, treatments, surgery setup and assisting, radiology, and outpatient procedures.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, SQ injections, laboratory sample collection.
• Ability to collect patient histories, weights and vital signs, and maintain accurate medical records.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Compassionate communication with clients and team members, with a collaborative work ethic.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and safely restrain patients.
• Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and client service.

Responsibilities

• Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows.
• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry.
• Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care.
• Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
• Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.
• Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service.
• Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces.
