Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System seeks a Float Registered Nurse (RN) to provide flexible, high-quality patient care across hospital units. The Float RN adapts to diverse patient populations, collaborates with care teams, and makes sound clinical decisions to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Requirements include graduation from nursing school, an active Louisiana RN license, and 5+ years of acute care experience (critical care preferred). BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of School of Nursing.
• Current and unrestricted Louisiana Registered Nurse license or compact state license as Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of 5 years of acute care nursing experience, critical care experience preferred.
• Current BLS-CPR, ACLS, and PALS.
• Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; ability to learn quickly, analyze problems and communicate effectively.
• Requires emotional stability and resilience; adaptable to change, decisive, and demonstrates foresight.
• Strong critical thinking, adaptability, and communication skills to work effectively in multiple clinical environments.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, treatments, and monitoring.
• Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans and facilitate patient discharge planning.
• Educates patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and self-care instructions.
• Demonstrates competency in use of technology and computers.
• Follows hospital/department infection control policies and safety protocols.
