Job summary

AVANCE - San Antonio seeks a dedicated caregiver to support the academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth of children from infants to preschoolers. The role includes partnering with parents, ensuring safety, and collaborating with staff to meet program standards.

The position requires relevant education (CDA/AA or BA in Early Childhood), at least six months in a licensed setting or practicum, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include Preschool CDA or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education with 18 hours in ECE.
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with 18 hours in ECE is preferred.
• Six (6) months in a licensed childcare facility or equivalent practicum.
• CPR and First Aid Training required.
• Must be computer literate and proficient with databases, software, and systems.
• Spanish fluency helpful but not required.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid license, and be bondable by AVANCE.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and models the organization’s Core Values.
• Ensures safety and well-being of children under AVANCE’s care.
• Follows confidentiality policies regarding information about children and families.
• Maintains supervision to ensure no child is left alone.
• Uses positive discipline methods and avoids corporal punishment or humilitation.
• Maintains open relationships with families and encourages parent involvement.
• Promotes security and trust through warm, supportive interactions.
• Provides developmental experiences to foster curiosity, initiative, and problem-solving.
• Conducts developmental screenings and develops weekly lesson plans.
• Ensures proper sign-in/out and documentation of times.
• Reports suspected neglect or illness.
• Maintains average daily attendance of at least 85%.
• Attends required professional development.
• Encourages two home visits annually per child and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Assists with medication administration following label instructions and documentation.
• Follows all performance, program, and licensing standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
