Job summary

OpenTrain is seeking a Venture Capital AI Training Associate to create and review AI training data that reflects real VC workflows. You will translate investment analysis into high-quality tasks and ensure outputs reflect sound VC judgment.

You will design tasks covering deal screening, market sizing, and competitive analysis, while validating projections and scenario analyses for early-stage and growth startups.

Qualifications

• Three to six+ years in venture capital, growth equity, or startup operations with deal evaluation exposure.
• Experience drafting investment committee memorandums and performing partner-level diligence preferred.
• Demonstrated TAM/SAM/SOM market sizing, founder assessment, and competitive landscape analysis.

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Venture Capital AI Training Associate to build datasets that capture the nuanced workflows of modern venture capital. You will translate authentic investment analysis into high-quality tasks and judgments, then assess whether AI-generated content reflects accurate pattern matching, realistic market sizing, and sound VC judgment.

This is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity paying $45-$100 per hour. The expected time commitment is 20 or more hours per week. English-language work is available in the listed eligible countries.

What You'll Do

You will design, review, and refine AI training tasks based on real venture capital workflows. The work requires rigorous analysis comparable to the depth expected in partner meetings and investment committee discussions.

• Design tasks covering deal screening, TAM/SAM/SOM market sizing, competitive analysis, founder evaluation, and investment committee memorandum drafting
• Analyze early-stage and growth startups across financials, product-market fit, market opportunities, competitive positioning, and team effectiveness
• Construct and interpret financial projections, cap tables, and scenario analyses for early-stage companies
• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accurate pattern matching, realistic market sizing, and sound venture capital judgment
• Help calibrate evaluation rubrics and refine task complexity
• Identify content gaps across sectors and company stages
• Document methodologies for modern VC analysis and decision-making

Required Experience and Skills

This role is intended for an individual contractor who can apply genuine venture capital judgment to the creation and review of AI training data. Candidates should have three to six or more years of experience in venture capital, growth equity, or startup operations with substantial deal evaluation exposure.

• Experience with venture capital, growth equity, or founder-operator work involving substantial deal evaluation
• Investment committee memorandum drafting and partner-level diligence experience preferred
• Demonstrated TAM/SAM/SOM market sizing, founder assessment, and competitive landscape analysis
• Ability to work with incomplete or ambiguous information while maintaining strong judgment
• Experience constructing and interpreting startup financial projections, cap tables, and scenario analyses
• Exceptional written communication and precise analytical documentation
• Experience across pre-seed through growth stages and multiple sectors is valuable

Helpful Background

An MBA, master's degree in finance, or equivalent advanced degree is welcome but not required by the source requirements. An operator or founder background with substantial exposure to investment evaluation can also be useful, as can experience across multiple company sectors.
