Job summary

The New York Public Library is seeking a skilled Manager, Vendor Digitization Services to lead end‑to‑end outsourced digitization projects for AMI and image collections. You will manage vendor relationships, budgets, contracts, and timelines while developing QC standards and ensuring preservation readiness.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Digital Reformatting, you will mentor the Media Preservation Coordinator, coordinate transport of fragile materials, and collaborate across Collection

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, Museum Studies, or related field with focus on preservation or digital reformatting.
  • 5+ years in cultural heritage digitization or preservation with project management experience.
  • Proven experience managing external vendors and complex procurement/contracting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary contact for external labs; manage RFPs, negotiate quotes, ensure contract terms and deadlines.
  • Lead, train, and evaluate the Media Preservation Coordinator; assign tasks and monitor performance.
  • Coordinate secure movement of materials; maintain tracking for assets during vendor reformatting lifecycle.
  • Manage budgets for outsourced services; review invoices and monitor spend against funds.
  • Establish QC benchmarks for vendor deliverables and resolve metadata/technical discrepancies.
