Job summary

PACCAR Electronics is seeking a motivated and experienced Electronic Architecture Engineer to join our team in Bellevue, WA. You will translate high-level requirements into architecture designs, integrate ECUs across vehicle systems, and ensure robust communication across modular truck platforms.

This role rewards systems thinking, end-to-end ownership of architectures, collaboration with software, controls, and validation teams, and shaping the communication backbone for PACCAR's next

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Systems) or related field.
• 3+ years of product development, systems engineering, or automotive/commercial vehicle experience.
• Strong systems mindset with a passion for architecture, not just components.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills across diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, evaluate tradeoffs, and make sound engineering decisions.

Responsibilities

• Architect vehicle network systems for heavy-duty trucks, focusing on modular, scalable electronics.
• Translate requirements into network implementations, defining SPNs and interfaces.
• Integrate ECUs across powertrain, chassis, ADAS, and battery-electric systems.
• Manage system-level requirements using model-based design with full traceability.
• Serve as SME for SAE J1939 and stay current on standards.
• Review engineering changes to preserve architectural integrity across systems.
• Collaborate with software, controls, powertrain, calibration, validation teams.
• Estimate and track architectural work across programs.
• Collaborate with DAF architecture team in Eindhoven on shared elements.
• Perform root-cause analysis with verification teams to implement solutions.
• Drive improvements to architecture tools, processes, and methodologies.
