Job summary

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Company, invites a Software Engineer Intern to join our Software Engineering team. You will help design and test vehicle control software for refuse trucks, develop and debug C++ programs, and support ongoing projects across vehicle systems.

You'll write maintainable code, work with embedded microcontrollers, CAN/J1939 interfaces, and collaborate through reviews and documentation.

Qualifications

Student working toward a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Experience with C or C++ programming or similar programming language.
Experience writing embedded applications on microcontrollers.
Experience with CAN and the J1939 protocol.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong academic record, GPA 3.0.

Responsibilities

Write quality, maintainable, object-oriented C++ software.
Develop and maintain PC programs used for configuration of truck specific programming.
Identify and control vehicle operation and maintenance risks.
Prepare and maintain software documentation for truck specific programming.
Test truck specific programming to ensure it operates as specified.
Participate in peer reviews and other engineering activities.
Job duties will vary depending on business unit and location of internship.
