Job Summary

The Vehicle Maintenance Manager will play a key role in ensuring the vehicles operate safely and efficiently, contributing to the smooth operations of the resort.

This individual will ensure compliance with safety regulations, and manage inventory for parts and equipment. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager will play a key role in ensuring the vehicles operate safely and efficiently, contributing to the smooth operations of the resort.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet Maintenance & Repair:
- Oversee the regular maintenance and repair of all resort vehicles, including grooming equipment, snowmobiles, and utility vehicles.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on a wide range of vehicles.
- Ensure vehicles are safe, operational, and meet all safety standards for winter driving conditions.
- Maintain chainsaws, weed-eaters, snowblowers and generators.
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all vehicles, ensuring optimal performance throughout the season.
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure compliance with manufacturer-recommended service intervals.
- Inventory & Parts Management:
- Manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.
- Work with vendors to source parts and negotiate pricing.
- Track and manage maintenance costs to stay within the departmental budget.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all vehicle repairs and maintenance meet local, state, and federal safety standards and regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of the fleet and report any safety issues.
- Oversee the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Collaboration with Other Departments:
- Work closely with operations, ski patrol, and snow grooming teams to ensure the timely availability of vehicles during peak operational times.
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests, especially in harsh weather conditions or during peak resort hours. This could include after hours work to get equipment off the mountain when necessary.
- Reporting & Budgeting:
- Assist in budget development and implementation.
- Prepare maintenance reports and track vehicle performance metrics.
- Assist with preparing and managing the annual maintenance budget, including labor, parts, and repair costs.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Education: Technical diploma or certification in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment repair preferred. Or comparable time in the field.
- Skills:
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities for various vehicle types.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in using maintenance management software and tools.
- Ability to work in cold, challenging weather conditions.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of snow grooming equipment, snowmobiles, and other winter-specific machinery is a plus.
- Licenses: Valid driver’s license required. CDL or other heavy equipment licenses are a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in cold weather, and operate various types of vehicles and equipment.
Work Environment
- Conditions: The role involves working outdoors in winter weather conditions and indoors in a maintenance shop. Requires working during peak times, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
