Job summary

Mobile Communications America seeks a skilled Vehicle Installer for the Birmingham, AL area to support our Voice (MSS) division. The role involves installing electrical wiring, antennas, GPS, and other equipment across multiple vehicle types, and performing all upfit tasks with safety and quality in mind.

The candidate should have at least 2 years of technical experience, basic ability to read electrical diagrams, and proficiency with hand tools, multimeters, and watt meters.

Qualifications

• 2 years of technical experience or equivalent education/experience
• Knowledge of installing systems/equipment in various vehicle types (radios, controls, lighting, cameras, antennas, GPS, sirens)
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and install
• Ability to test/troubleshoot electrical and system issues
• Assemble/disassemble and route wiring, install wiring harnesses, drill holes, solder, and perform vehicle upfits/installations
• Understanding of wire gauges and fuses based on DC current
• Use of basic tools and test equipment including hand tools, power drills, multimeters, and watt meters

Responsibilities

• Connect electrical fittings, drill holes, solder, and modify vehicles for emergency equipment
• Install electrical wiring, antenna systems, data and power cabling, and connectors
• Disassemble/reassemble trim and seating to route wiring and install equipment
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues as needed
• Complete installations for various vehicle makes and models
• Maintain a safe/clean work area and proper documentation
• Learn new products/techniques from colleagues and manufacturers
• Maintain confidentiality of service information
