Job summary

Road & Rail Services in Birmingham, AL is seeking Vehicle Handlers / Railcar Loaders to support automotive rail operations at the BNSF facility. This outdoor role requires moving new vehicles on and off multi-level railcars and preparing railcars for loading and unloading.

No railroad experience is required; training on procedures, equipment, and safety will be provided. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors around moving vehicles and rail equipment with a safety focus and strong

Qualifications

Valid driver's license required.
Ability to safely operate a variety of passenger vehicles.
Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.
Ability to follow detailed driving, loading, and safety instructions.
Comfortable working outdoors around moving vehicles and active rail equipment.
Safety-focused attitude and strong attention to detail.
Willingness to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Safely drive vehicles on and off multi-level railcars.
Move vehicles to assigned staging and parking areas.
Help open and close railcar end doors.
Raise and lower railcar decks as required.
Position bridge plates and adjustable ramps.
Remove and properly store vehicle securement devices used during rail transportation.
Follow assigned routes, customer procedures, and damage-prevention standards.
Immediately report vehicle damage, equipment concerns, or unsafe conditions.
Follow all company, customer, and railroad safety procedures.
